Ever get frustrated by the amount of food that students waste each day at the dining halls? Food waste is a big problem in America. Fortunately, Jonathan Bloom - author, consultant and prominent leader in the fight against food waste in America - is coming to Lehigh University to give a lecture. The lecture, entitled “What a Waste! The Impact and Opportunity of Wasted Food in America” will take place on April 17 at 4:10 p.m. in Packard Lab, room 466. The Office of Sustainability, the Lehigh Sustainability Council, Student Auxiliary Services and the Sustainable Development Program are all collaborating to co-sponsor this event.
Bloom is the author of American Wasteland, How America Throws Away Nearly Half of Its Food (and What We Can Do About It). He has consulted with the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization, Harvard Law School, Natural Resources Defense Council and General Mills. Bloom also serves as an Advisory Board member for Food Tank, ReFed and Imperfect Produce.
