Lehigh Climate Action Strategy Development Update


A key subcomponent of Lehigh's Sustainability Strategic Plan 2030 is the development of a Climate Action Strategy where Lehigh will demonstrate true climate leadership. A critical component of the strategy is to develop a comprehensive roadmap for measuring, planning, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The strategy will outline a set of energy efficiency projects that will reduce emissions and save the institution money. It will also establish greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets and a future carbon neutrality date. Read more for the latest updates.

On Your Mark, Get Set, Go! Campus Race to Zero Waste Kicks off at Lehigh

Campus Race to Zero Waste (formerly Recyclemania) is an 8-week national waste diversion and recycling competition against colleges and universities to promote waste reduction activities in campus communities. This year, the competition runs from January 31 - March 27. Throughout the competition, the Office of Sustainability, in collaboration with other campus organizations and departments, is holding interactive, virtual events and running various campaigns for all students, faculty, and staff to participate in. Support Lehigh Sustainability Programs through the Cause Network! 

The CauseNetwork is a digital fundraising platform for Causes of all kinds. Through Lehigh Sustainability’s partnership, you can donate your used electronics or shop for the things you normally do (at the places you usually shop at), and the proceeds support Lehigh Sustainability programs! With your participation, Lehigh receives funding to support Lehigh's Sustainable Initiative Grant (SIG) to fund innovative, scalable projects to create a greener, more sustainable campus. Eco Containers: The Added Perk to Student Meal Plans

Through its partnership with Student Auxiliary Services, Lehigh Dining announced that meal plan participants are now automatically enrolled in the reusable Eco Container Program! Though this program has been in place for many years, students will no longer need to sign up for it.  The new process, which is outlined below, improves the experience for students and supports the University's sustainability goals by diverting a substantial amount of waste from landfills. Lehigh Student Swap Shop Returns

Lehigh's FREE Swap Shop will be reopening virtually this semester! The Swap Shop operates like a thrift shop (without the cost).  Our goal is to provide cost-free clothing options to Lehigh students while simultaneously reducing waste by diverting clothing from landfills. With our COVID-19 protocols and reopening plan, students will be able to virtually shop using our new Instagram handle (@LUswapshop). Donations and pickups will be arranged in an outdoor, socially-distant manner following all COVID-19 protocols via Instagram DMs. Read more for the latest updates.
