Willow Haven CSA Year-Around Offerings

It’s been over a year since the Willow Haven Market Box CSA program was launched at Lehigh. Geared towards faculty and staff, the program conveniently delivers fresh, local, healthy food directly to Lehigh for faculty and staff each week. The customizable CSA boxes contain a wide range of farm products sourced from Willow Haven farms and other local farmers and artisans designed for “year-round deliveries with flexible scheduling” said Tessa DeMaster, co-owner of Willow Haven Farm. 

The CSA had a hearty welcome on campus with 45 farm members participating in 2022 alone, even with the program having launched mid-way through the year in July. So far, this year, the program has 34 farm members participating. On average, 9-13 choose to receive a custom box every week. 

As the seasons change, one might wonder if it is still a good idea to sign up for a CSA. If you ask Tessa DeMaster, the self-proclaimed “Farmer’s Wife”, the answer is a resounding yes!

“Now is a great time to join. Farmer’s markets are closing and the produce available at grocery stores is of lower quality and comes from far away. Local farmers like us are still harvesting and planning for next year. Spending your grocery budget locally supports our family and the farmers we work with and guarantees carefully grown, nutrient-dense food on your table,” states DeMaster.
