Lehigh Students Step Up Their Sustainable Living Practices

The Sustainable Living Program, which was relaunched in fall 2017, is a way for students living on campus to deepen their level of engagement with sustainability at Lehigh! Through this voluntary, self-guided program coordinated by the Eco-Rep Leadership Program, students in residence halls and Greek houses can learn about the impact of their day-to-day living habits and reduce their environmental impact. Buses, Walking and Bikes: Car Free Day 2018

The third annual Car Free Day celebration is almost here! The Office of Sustainability, in collaboration with Transportation and Parking Services, will be holding the national celebration on Thursday, September 20th. This year, we hope to increase the number of students, faculty, and staff that sign the pledge to go car free, and showcase the increasing importance of sustainable transportation, and give YOU the chance to win a bike courtesy of Lehigh Dining. November is Energy Conservation Month!

Energy Conservation Month is campus-wide challenge throughout the month of November to encourage members of the Lehigh community to be conscious of their energy consumption, commit to adopting new energy saving behaviors, and to engage with peers and coworkers on the topic of energy conservation. Be on the lookout for events held all month long. By signing the pledge, you are automatically entered into a raffle for a chance to win numerous prizes!

Big Belly Bin

Dozens of Big Belly Bins Deployed Around Campus

Noticed something different on campus recently? Lehigh University has recently deployed 25 new Big Belly waste and recycling bins all over campus. These bins are equipped with solar panels on the top, which produce energy to compact trash and recycling we dispose in them! This way, we can minimize our footprint and decrease the number of times the bins need to be serviced. Read More

It’s official! The Lehigh GreenFund will now be known as the Sustainable Initiative Grant. Overall, the goal of the Sustainable Initiative Grant is to advance sustainability on the Lehigh campus through funding collaborative learning projects and the new name better reflects the mission and goal. Real Food Challenge Data

Progress Toward Local, Humane Food: 2017-2018 Real Food Challenge Results 

Lehigh University and Sodexo are working diligently to hold up their respective ends of the Campus Sustainability Plan 2020 by participating in the Real Food Challenge (RFC). The RFC is a national campaign to encourage campuses to increase the ratio of food purchased from "conventional" to "real" food. The Office of Sustainability has been working with Lehigh Dining Services and Sodexo to take on this challenge for the last four years, with one major goal in mind: purchase 20% of their food aligning with at least 1 of 4 categories (local, humane, fair trade, organic) by the year 2020.
