Introducing the New Office of Sustainability

The Office of Sustainability has undergone some new and exciting changes this spring! For those of you who don’t know, Katharine Targett Gross, the former Sustainability Officer, departed Lehigh in early spring 2022 for a position in the private sector. While change can sometimes bring on a wave of uncertainty, Katharine’s leave opened the opportunity to re-evaluate the Office of Sustainability’s future and expand its staffing. Learn more.

Calling all Gardners: We Have a Few Plots Available for the 2022 Season!

Great news: the Lehigh Community Garden still has a few plots available for the 2022 season. Located on Goodman Campus, participation in the garden is open to University faculty, staff, students, and alumni. With each annual/seasonal plot lease, participants are allowed to grow produce in their own plot, and gain access to shared garden amenities, resources, and growing spaces. 

Please contact sustainability@lehigh.edu to inquire about leasing a plot in the Lehigh Community Garden. Plots are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Learn more

Have you been to the Bethlehem Farmers’ Market yet?

The Bethlehem Farmers' Market is a local, producer-only farmers' market conveniently located in Farrington Square. The market offers fresh produce, lunch items, baked goods, natural goods, and live music! It's open *every Thursday between 10AM - 2PM with live music by local musicians between 12-2 PM. *Note: The farmers market is taking a Summer Break June 30th & July 7th, but will reopen on July 14th!

Attention Staff & Faculty: Has your Office joined the Sustainable Office Program yet?

Lehigh’s Sustainable Office Program is a voluntary, self-guided program designed for faculty and staff to take the lead on promoting sustainable practices in the workplace. Through the program, faculty and staff can identify opportunities for innovation and can implement sustainable changes. They can reduce their environmental footprint, be responsible stewards of university’s resources, contribute to Lehigh’s sustainability goals and commitments, and build a campus community for the 21st Century.
