Karen Pooley Continues to Advocate for South Bethlehem
Karen Pooley is the director of the Environmental Policy Graduate Program, a professor of practice in Political Science, a member of the Lehigh's Environmental Initiative, co-chair of the Lehigh Sustainability Council, an active member of the Bethlehem community, and an advocate for the Southside Community. Two projects that Karen will be looking closely at this semester and some to follow include the construction and opening of the Riverport Market as well as making the intersection at 3rd and Adams safer for the community. 2019 Sustainability Progress Report Released
Over the last four years, we have achieved many of our Campus Sustainability Plan 2020 goals as a result of hard work and collaboration across stems. We recently finalized our last report for our Campus Sustainability Plan 2020. Read more about the progress report here.
Lehigh University has taken numerous steps to integrate sustainability into its academic and operational processes. The creation of our first Campus Sustainability Plan in 2012 marked the university's first institutional roadmap for this important priority. Lehigh's second Campus Sustainabiltiy Plan in 2016 build on this progress. The Office of Sustainability recently hosted a two-part series of campus workshops to engage our talented campus community in a strategic planning discussion for our next Sustainability Strategic Plan. Sustainability Leadership Awards: Call for Nominations
On behalf of the Office of Sustainability and the Lehigh Sustainability Council, we are pleased to announce the second annual Lehigh Sustainability Leadership Summit. This event provides an opportunity for campus community members working on sustainability issues across campus to come together, celebrate progress and accomplishments, recognize graduates, and ignite dialogue for how to further address sustainability leadership and innovation challenges at Lehigh and beyond. Eco-Rep Leadership Program: Call for Applications
Apply to be an Eco-Rep for the 2020-2021 academic year! The Eco-Rep Leadership Program is open to all undergraduate students and will be accepting applications for the 2020-2021 academic year from March 5 - April 3. Eco-Reps will receive a stipend per semester. Learn more about the program here.
2020 LVAIC Sustainability Conference
On February 15, Muhlenberg hosted the biennial LVAIC Sustainability Conference. This conference aims to empower and inspire students, faculty, and administrators into action on their campus and surrounding community. The format includes a keynote speaker, presentations, interactive workshops, a poster session, and an exhibitor forum. We are proud to announce that several students, staff, and faculty members represented Lehigh University by leading presentations, workshops, and/or exhibiting a poster. “Pop Up” No More: Swap Shop Has Permanent Home
The Swap Shop is joing effort between the Eco House Residential Community, the Office of Sustainability, and the PRIDE Center that focuses on reducing textile and clothing waste on campus by providing a space where people can freely swap old clothes for new clothes, ultimately reducing the amount of clothing that ends up in landfills.
