This Saturday, September 16th, Lehigh University will be hosting its annual Game Day Challenge football game when the Mountain Hawks play Yale University at Goodman Stadium. Rain or shine, we will be all hands on deck to do our part in the friendly, national competition against other colleges and universities to see who can recycle as much as possible and reduce waste as much as possible during a home football game.
Throughout the game, dedicated Green Team volunteers from the Office of Sustainability and Eco-Reps will be encouraging fans to not only physically recycle and compost, but to educate and raise awareness about what items are recyclable and compostable and how to implement these practices at home. Trash, recycling, and composting will be measured after the game and reported. Lehigh will then be ranked against the other competing schools to see which school had the highest waste diversion rate. It’s a fun, exciting way to promote sustainable behaviors. We hope to see you at the game, cheering on our Hawks and recycling along the way! Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m., but the game atmosphere - and Game Day Challenge - starts as soon as the first cars roll into the parking lots!
