In its eighth annual "Cool Schools" ranking, Sierra magazine ranked Lehigh University as one of America's greenest colleges. Lehigh University was ranked #138, based on responses to an extensive questionnaire about current sustainability practices and procedures. Lehigh was ranked among 173 participating schools and received high marks for a strong commitment to waste reduction, water conservation and sustainability planning.
The Sierra rankings are based on various sustainability criteria, including energy, food, and academics/research. The voluntary opt-in ranking system is designed to identify and recognize universities with a strong commitment to sustainability and environmental protection.
