Lehigh Sustainability Professional Development Opportunities for Students

The Hatchery is an immersive summer learning experience where participants apply design thinking and lean startup methods to develop solutions and test potential business ideas.

Through engaging in such meaningful, authentic, and incredibly alive projects, Fellows develop skillsets, mindsets, and portfolios to address complex sustainability challenges.

The Data for Impact Summer Institute is a ten-week project-centric program for highly motivated students focused on Data Science, Research, Analytics, Visualization, and Execution.

Through the Eco-Rep Leadership Program, a peer-to-peer education program focused on training student leaders to embody and promote sustainable living in residential halls and Greek houses, students identify opportunities for innovation and implement sustainable change.

Inquiry to Impact Projects pursue creative and innovative answers to societal challenges and open-ended questions in multidisciplinary teams with students, faculty, and external partners.

The program establishes a close technical partnership between power generation and allied industry members with the Energy Research Center.

The goals of the Industrial Assessment Center are to recommend measures to conserve energy, reduce waste, and enhance productivity.

Foster campus-wide engagement on environmental stewardship matters, advise the President and senior leadership, coordinate activities with the Office of Sustainability in an effort to advance Lehigh’s sustainability goals, and set priorities for change that will have the largest impact and provide meaningful results.

Mountaintop projects are interdisciplinary deep dives where faculty, students, and external partners come together and take new intellectual, creative, and/or artistic pathways that lead to transformative new innovations, new expressions, and new questions.

Depending on the role, students work on a variety of projects ranging from metrics and reporting, communications, graphic design, events and programs, tree inventories and more.

The Lehigh University Partnership for Sustainable UN Missions is a voluntary program designed for Missions based in New York to integrate sustainable practices into the workplace.

The fellowships are competitive and open to any student in the university to work with any faculty mentor on a project that focuses on sustainable energy, environmental policy, environmental economics, environmental health, environmental justice, natural resource conservation, or environmental sustainability interpreted broadly.

Through the creation of a campus that is a model of sustainability in practice, teaching, and research, Lehigh will enhance awareness and knowledge of sustainable practices and ensure hands on learning is woven into Lehigh's educational experience.

The goal of program is to augment classroom education currently available to students with practical on-the-ground experience in sustainable development projects.

SustainabLEHIGH is a pre-orientation program, under Lehigh's PreLUsion program, designed for incoming first-year students to gain early exposure to campus and immerse themselves in sustainability.

Engages students, staff, faculty, and alumni on how to incorporate sustainable practices. Event information is sent to the student body annually.
