DEP Awards Lehigh with 2020 Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant

In December 2020, Lehigh Sustainability Officer, Katharine Targett Gross, in collaboration with Jason Schiffer, Chief of Police and Bob Bruneio, Transportation Services Manager, applied for a grant through the Alternative Fuels Incentive Grant (AFIG) Program through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.  The Office of Sustainability is proud to announce that Lehigh was one of 20 local governments, schools, businesses, and organizations to receive a portion of the $3.4 million grant. Lehigh Climate Action Strategy Update

A key component of Lehigh's Sustainability Strategic Plan 2030 is the development, adoption, and implementation of a Climate Action Strategy where Lehigh can demonstrate true climate leadership. This strategy will establish a comprehensive roadmap for measuring, planning, and reducing Lehigh’s greenhouse gas emissions.  It will also establish a net carbon neutrality date for the university. Sustainable Office Program Relaunches with 2030 Vision

The Lehigh Sustainable Office Program (SOP) is a voluntary, self-guided program designed for faculty and staff to take the lead on promoting sustainable practices in the workplace and identify opportunities for innovation and implement sustainable change. Faculty and staff can reduce their environmental footprint, be responsible stewards of university’s resources, contribute to Lehigh’s sustainability goals and commitments, and build a campus community for the 21st Century. Support Lehigh Sustainability Programs Through the Cause Network!

You can now support Lehigh Sustainability programs through your everyday activities! The CauseNetwork is a digital fundraising platform for Causes of all kinds. Through Lehigh’s partnership with the CauseNetwork, you can donate your used personal electronics to the Cause Network or shop for the things you normally do (at the places you usually shop at) and have proceeds support Lehigh Sustainability programs! With your participation, Lehigh receives funding to support Lehigh's Sustainable Initiative Grant (SIG) to fund innovative, scalable projects to create a greener, more sustainable campus. Grow your Impact with the Sustainable Initiative Grant!

Do you have an innovative idea to grow Lehigh’s sustainability efforts on campus? Check out the Sustainable Initiative Grant! The Sustainable Initiative Grant provides financial resources to members of the Lehigh community who want to pilot innovative and scalable ideas to create a greener, more sustainable campus. One-time grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded to students, faculty, and staff to facilitate green pilot projects. Learn more. Applications are due on the first of each month. Apply here today!
